Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Night Shift)

Location: Maryville, IL 

Shift: Night, 3x12-Hour (18:00 – 06:30) 

Start Date: December 8, 2025 

Duration: 13 weeks

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join our OB/GYN unit in Maryville, IL. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients during labor, delivery, post-partum, and neonatal stages. The position requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, and a commitment to patient safety and family-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in labor and delivery, post-partum, and neonatal settings
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and conduct sterile vaginal exams
• Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, including EFM, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC calibration
• Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Circulate and recover patients for C-sections
• Administer blood and blood products, start and maintain peripheral IVs, and manage infusion pumps/drips
• Support patients receiving epidural anesthesia
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe outcomes
• Document patient care using Meditech

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (Illinois)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP
• Ability to work every 3rd weekend
• Proficiency with Pyxis medication system and Meditech documentation system

Preferred Skills

• Experience with NST and OCT procedures
• Strong knowledge of obstetrical triage and advanced fetal monitoring techniques
• Ability to mentor first-time travelers depending on experience
