Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality care across both Acute Rehab and general Rehabilitation settings. The therapist will evaluate and re-evaluate assigned adult patients in inpatient and outpatient environments, develop individualized treatment plans, and implement ongoing therapeutic programs as ordered by the referring provider. This role requires the ability to independently manage a full caseload, update treatment plans regularly, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient progress and continuity of care.
The therapist must also demonstrate strong understanding of insurance-driven re-evaluation requirements, develop home exercise programs, and provide patient and caregiver education. Candidates must be able to work state and federal holidays as needed to support hospital operations. An active Hawaii Occupational Therapy license is required by the start of the assignment.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient evaluations and re-evaluations in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with physician orders.
- Update plans of care and home exercise programs as medically necessary.
- Manage a full caseload independently while meeting quality and productivity expectations.
- Document treatments, progress notes, and re-evaluations using designated EMR systems.
- Provide patient and caregiver education to support functional improvement.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support effective discharge planning.
- Work assigned day shifts and participate in holiday coverage as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with adult patients in outpatient and acute care settings.
- Active Hawaii Occupational Therapy License (must be obtained prior to start).
- BLS certification (American Red Cross).
- Experience with Net Health Therapy and Meditech EMR systems preferred.
- Ability to arrive prior to assignment for onboarding and health clearance.
