Mammography Technologist – Portland, OR
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mammography Technologist for an immediate start in Portland, OR. This role requires proficiency in mammography and general radiology, with a strong commitment to patient care, safety, and diagnostic accuracy. Candidates must be prepared to work a full-time schedule with rotating on-call responsibilities.
Position Summary
The Mammographic Technologist performs imaging procedures according to physician orders, applying knowledge of exposure factors, imaging techniques, and patient treatment. The technologist is expected to perform the complete range of departmental mammographic exams, from screening to stereotactic procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Position patients for diagnostic imaging according to department procedures and equipment requirements.
- Operate imaging equipment, set exposure factors, and optimize techniques to ensure quality images with minimal repeat rates.
- Utilize computer image processing to select and enhance images.
- Present exams and patient information to radiologists for diagnosis.
- Assist with patient transport using standard procedures.
- Perform breast imaging examinations including screening, diagnostic exams, ductograms, localizations, specimen radiographs, and stereotactic studies.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including patient identification, questionnaires, orders, and image labeling.
- Conduct quality control and assurance procedures to meet MQSA standards.
- Apply radiation safety standards and universal precautions.
- Communicate effectively with patients across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Follow departmental policies and service excellence standards.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited 2-year Radiologic Technology program.
- Minimum of six consecutive months of breast imaging experience within the last year.
- Experience in breast imaging examinations including screening, diagnostic, ductograms, localizations, specimen radiographs, and stereotactic procedures.
- Required Certifications:
- ARRT (R)
- BLS certification
- Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) license
- Must meet MQSA requirements for mammographers.
- ARRT (M) Mammography registration required within six months of hire.
- Preferred: Experience in Digital Mammography.
Position Details
- Location: Portland, OR
- Shift: Day, 5x8-Hour (08:00 – 16:00), Monday–Friday
- Additional Coverage: Potential Saturday shifts (07:00 – 17:30) if needed
- On-Call Rotation: Friday 18:00 – Saturday 17:30, rotating with 5 other mammographers
- Overtime: Possible, dependent on coverage needs
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- Duration: 13 weeks
