Description
OVERVIEW
Blanchard Valley Hospital is seeking a Senior Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist to support high-quality patient care at the Armes Family Cancer Care Center.
This role is responsible for planning and verifying radiation treatments, ensuring precise dose delivery, overseeing all radiation therapy equipment, and maintaining the highest QA and safety standards. The senior physicist will also serve as the designated Certified Radiation Expert (CRE), support clinical research, teach team members, and drive continuous improvement in radiotherapy physics operations.
SCHEDULE
- Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- Full-time Sr. Physicist: 3 days on-site + 2 days remote (40 hours)
- Part-time Physicist: covers the 2 on-site days + optional half-day remote (up to 20 hours)
- Includes coverage for PTO, sick days, and vacations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and execute the Radiation Oncology QA & Safety Program
- Maintain and calibrate all physics QA equipment; oversee preventive maintenance
- Ensure full physics coverage and manage alternate/backup coverage schedules
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards
- Partner with oncologists, dosimetrists, and therapists to ensure safe and effective treatments
- Oversee all physics-related software, treatment planning systems, and QA systems
- Perform daily, monthly, and annual QA on LINACs, CT sim, and TPS
- Oversee dosimetry operations; provide dosimetry support when needed
- Participate in and support SRS, SBRT, SRT, HyperArc, and stereotactic treatments
- Commission and maintain stereotactic systems and coordinate with radiation safety during inspections
- Lead chart reviews, documentation, equipment testing, credentialing, and protocol participation
- Support new treatment modalities, accreditations, and technology upgrades
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in Physics, Medical Physics, Radiological Physics, Biophysics, Nuclear Engineering, or Health Physics – Required
- ABR Certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics – Required
- Minimum 3+ years of experience – Required
