Description
Job Summary:
-Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift.
-Ensures safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients.
-Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
-Coordinates patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
-Initiates, utilizes, and documents appropriate protocols and standards of care.
-Administers medication and treatments as prescribed by the physician or standard protocols and documents according to policy.
-Identifies and meets patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care.
-Assumes responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel.
-Completes patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards.
Skills:
Required Skills & Experience:
-Minimum two (2) years of current experience required in a large OR.
-Candidate must be able to scrub.
-Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
-Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Epic experience preferred, but not required; can train on-site.
Ortho, EENT, and/or vascular experience a plus.
Education:
Required Education:
One of the following is required:
Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN).
Required Certifications & Licensure:
State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
BLS required.
BLS, (ACLS, and PALS if obtained) must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
PALS preferred.
ACLS preferred.
