Short Description:
SMH – Level 1 RN Psych (Unit 3900) – 

Rotating D/E/N shifts. Weekends, holidays, on-call, callback, and charge duties as needed per unit requirements.

Job Description & Duties

• Perform intake assessments through interviews with patients and family to gather case history.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care and develop nursing diagnoses for medical and emotional status.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design individualized treatment plans.
• Administer psychotropic medications and monitor/document patient reactions.
• Coordinate further medical attention as needed.
• Educate patients on emotional disturbances and treatment needs.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
• Assess and document vital signs, including pain assessment and pain management.
• Document all patient information accurately in medical charts and follow physician orders.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with standard medical recordkeeping.
• Complete administrative tasks including filing, phone coverage, typing, and electronic progress notes.
• Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and visitors, ensuring appropriate responses and referrals.

Requirements

• Active NY RN License (Required)
• BLS (AHA Only)
• CPI Blue Card Certification
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Psych experience preferred)
