Job Summary
The Renal/Vascular Surgical RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of the interdisciplinary care team, providing individualized, high-quality care to patients recovering from kidney-related conditions, vascular diseases, and post-surgical procedures. The RN practices within the Shared Governance Model and Professional Practice Model, ensuring evidence-based care and patient advocacy.
This nurse upholds the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the ANA Scope & Standards while supporting organizational policies, patient safety, and service excellence goals.
Core Responsibilities & Essential Functions
1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
- Performs the full Nursing Process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to deliver personalized care for renal, vascular, and surgical patients.
- Provides relationship-based, culturally competent care that adapts to a wide range of patient needs.
- Partners with patients and families through communication, teaching, and updates to ensure goals of care are met.
- Delivers care following current surgical, renal, and vascular clinical standards.
2. Teamwork and Collaboration
- Coordinates safe and effective interdisciplinary care using communication tools such as bedside reports, case reviews, and rounds.
- Supports a respectful, inclusive work environment and contributes to recruitment and retention efforts.
- Participates in performance improvement activities and shared governance.
- Ensures timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
3. Professional Development & Initiative
- Completes all required competencies, ongoing education, and specialty-related training.
- Serves as a mentor or preceptor for new staff and students.
- Actively develops clinical skills and contributes to a healthy work culture.
4. Evidence-Based Practice & Research
- Applies evidence-based practice and participates in quality and research initiatives.
- Upholds all policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals including TJC standards.
- Engages in data collection and uses evidence to guide clinical decision-making.
5. Resources & Support
- Plans proactively for patient needs across the care continuum from admission to discharge.
- Works with care managers and interdisciplinary teams to reduce complications, readmissions, and delays.
- Uses resources effectively to support workflow and improve outcomes.
- Performs other duties as assigned and adheres to policy and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Required Licensure & Certifications
(All required upon hire unless otherwise stated)
- Registered Nurse (RN) – Single-State or Multi-State Compact
- Basic Life Support (BLS – AHA or ARC)
Required Minimum Experience
- Minimum 1 years of RN experience required
- Direct patient care or surgical experience preferred
