Job Summary – Registered Nurse (RN)


Shift: Day, 4×12
Assignment: 48 hours/week
Guarantee: 13-week contract

Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) ensures high-quality patient care by following the nursing care plan, supervising LPNs, CNAs, and orientees, and promoting a safe environment for both patients and staff. This role aligns with the Select Medical Core Values, emphasizing superior care, teamwork, accountability, and patient/employee safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full nursing assessment within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
  • Identify patient/family teaching needs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide timely patient updates for initial and weekly team conferences.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses.
  • Deliver direct patient care using nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation processes.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient education starting on admission day.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition to the attending physician and charge nurse.
  • Seek guidance from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
  • Direct, train, and supervise ancillary nursing staff; delegate appropriately.
  • Promote patient and staff safety following hospital safety policies.
  • Support unit operations by maintaining calm, providing direction, and participating in team-building efforts.
  • Notify management of supply, equipment, or training needs.
  • Deliver cost-effective care while maintaining quality outcomes.
  • Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities after appropriate orientation.
  • Engage in professional development and continuing education.
  • Prioritize tasks to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
