Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) – Contract Assignment

Location: Lawrence, MA
Start Date: Jan 5, 2026
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Days | Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
 

Position Overview

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide high-quality evaluation and therapeutic services to residents in a Long-Term Care (LTC) and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting. The SLP will partner with residents, caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team to maximize functional communication, swallowing safety, and overall independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations and deliver speech, language, cognitive-communication, and dysphagia therapy based on physician orders.
  • Perform modified barium swallow evaluations as clinically indicated.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with functional short- and long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with residents and caregivers to support care planning and patient-centered goals.
  • Provide clear communication and consultation to physicians and interdisciplinary team members; attend relevant care meetings.
  • Continuously monitor progress and modify treatment plans based on clinical outcomes.
  • Document all assessments, treatments, and resident interactions timely and accurately.
  • Recommend and train residents/caregivers on communication and swallowing devices as appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and facility documentation standards.
  • Participate in staff education, departmental meetings, and development of new therapy programs.
  • Comply with infection control, safety standards, and facility procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Active State SLP License (must be current).
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience (LTC/SNF experience preferred).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary clinical team.
  • BLS certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform duties involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (assistance required for heavier transfers).
