Description

Job Title: Travel RN – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Facility: Los Alamos Medical Center, Los Alamos, NM Shift: 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM

Overview: Los Alamos Medical Center is seeking a Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions, ensuring safe transitions and optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery status post-anesthesia.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including pain management.
  • Assess patient readiness for discharge or transfer to inpatient units.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding post-operative care and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of New Mexico or compact state eligibility.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of recent PACU or critical care experience required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical recovery environment.

  • Shift: 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM
