Description

Job Posting: General OR Surgical Tech

Location: Level 1 Trauma Center
Unit: General Surgery – Operating Room
Shifts: 10-hour shifts, Days (various schedules),
Guaranteed Hours: 40/week
Charting: EPIC (Epic Care Inpatient)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced General OR Surgical Tech to join a high-volume Level 1 Trauma Center. The General Surgery department includes 14 suites (29 total hospital-wide) and manages 20–40 cases per day. The ideal candidate is skilled in a variety of surgical specialties and fully independent with the Da Vinci robot.

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of hospital surgical experience
- Candidates with 1.5+ years in a Level 1 trauma center will be considered
Experience in General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, and ENT
DaVinci robotic surgery experience required (must be fully independent)
Level 1 trauma experience required only for mid/evening/night shift techs
Must be able to scrub independently

Certifications & Licenses

BLS (AHA)
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
Illinois license (active)

Shift, Call & Scheduling

Shift options include: 07:00–15:30, 07:00–17:30, 14:30–23:00, 12:30–23:00, 10:30–23:00, 22:30–07:00, 20:30–07:00
No self-scheduling; block scheduling not guaranteed
1–2 call shifts per week, up to 8 hours per call shift
Every 3rd weekend with scheduled call
Sleep policy: If working >4 hours after 23:00, must receive 8 hours off

Department Details

Common cases include: lap chole, lap colon, lap appy, cysto, Da Vinci cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology
Charge nurse available for support
Team includes experienced OR techs
Orientation: 1 week scrubbing with a hospital surgical tech
Floating: May assist other surgical teams or SPD if qualified
Scrubs provided by hospital
