Position Summary

The Med-Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse provides safe, effective, and patient-centered care for adult medical-surgical patients with telemetry monitoring needs. This role requires strong assessment skills, the ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced acute-care environment, and competency in clinical decision-making. RNs in this unit must be adaptable, organized, and effective communicators. Charge nurse experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Assessment

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
• Perform ongoing assessments, monitor vital signs, interpret basic telemetry, and identify clinical changes.
• Administer medications, wound care, IV therapy, and treatments as ordered.
• Document accurately and timely in Soarian EMR.

Care Coordination & Communication

• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, case management, therapy, and ancillary staff.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and provide clear, concise handoffs.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans.

Safety & Quality

• Ensure adherence to infection control, fall prevention, and hospital safety protocols.
• Manage a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity.
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as appropriate.

Teamwork & Leadership

• Support unit workflow and prioritize multiple competing demands.
• Serve in charge nurse duties when requested (preferred, not required).
• Assist with mentoring or orienting less experienced staff as applicable.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active RN license (state-specific—confirm per assignment).
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med-Surg experience in an acute care hospital.
• Competency in general Med-Surg and telemetry monitoring.
• Proficiency with Soarian or willingness to learn quickly.
• Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Preferred:

• Previous travel nursing experience.
• Charge nurse experience.
• Multi-specialty MS/Tele background.
