Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Travel Assignment)

Location: Maryville, IL

Start Date: December 22, 2025

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM)

Weekend Coverage: Every 3rd weekend

Experience Required: Minimum 3 years (unit may accept first-time travelers depending on experience)

Charting System: Meditech

Medication System: Pyxis

Scrubs: Provided

Job Summary

The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse will provide comprehensive care to obstetrical patients, supporting both mothers and neonates during labor, delivery, and recovery. This role requires advanced clinical skills, the ability to manage high-acuity situations, and proficiency in obstetric procedures and monitoring. Nurses will collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.

Patient Population

Neonates
Adults (obstetrical patients)

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care for laboring patients, including triage and monitoring
Perform sterile vaginal exams and epidural anesthesia support
Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC calibration
Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
Circulate and recover patients for C-sections
Administer blood and blood products as needed
Draw venous blood, start and maintain peripheral IVs, and manage infusion pumps/drips
Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to support patient care plans
Document patient care accurately in Meditech
