Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Flex Pool team, floating across multiple medical and surgical units. The ideal candidate is adaptable, clinically skilled, and comfortable working in fast-paced acute care environments. This position requires rotating between several units to support patient care needs and staffing demands.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality nursing care across designated medical and surgical units.
Float between the Medical Unit, Surgical Acute Unit (Laulima), and—on rare occasions—the Cardiovascular Unit.
Perform assessments, administer medications, and manage treatment plans according to unit protocols.
Utilize Meditech EMR (or EPIC, when applicable), Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tube systems.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate documentation and follow all clinical and safety standards.
Adapt quickly to unit-specific workflows and staffing needs.

Shift & Scheduling

12-hour Night shifts: 1845–0715
Scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation
No guarantee of hours; flexibility required
Orientation provided for each assigned unit

Medical Unit

77 beds
Ratios: Days/Eves 1:6 • Nights 1:8

Surgical Acute Unit (Laulima)

18 beds
Ratio: 1:6

Cardiovascular Unit

15 beds
Ratio: 1:4

Ratios may vary depending on staffing and unexpected leaves.

Requirements

Experience & Skills

2–10 years of acute care experience
Ability to float between multiple units
Strong clinical assessment and prioritization skills

Licensure & Certifications

Active RN license (HI license required before assignment begins)
BLS and ACLS required
Preferred: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC

Immunity & Compliance

Medical and religious exemptions not accepted; proof of immunity required
Must arrive the Thursday before orientation to complete employee health clearance on Friday

Dress Code

Professional nursing attire; clean scrubs required
