Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Facility: Sparrow Hospital
Location: Lansing, MI
Start Date: ASAP / 12-23-2025
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights | 3×12 (19:00–07:30)
Guaranteed Hours: 36/week

Pay Package

Total Gross Weekly: $2,434/week

  • Taxed (W2): $33/hr
  • Weekly Stipend: $1,246/week

Position Overview

Sparrow Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center seeking a strong, experienced ER RN for a fast-paced, high-acuity Emergency Department. The ideal candidate has solid trauma exposure, excellent clinical judgment, and comfort working in a busy environment with fluctuating ratios.

You will work alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team supporting adult and pediatric populations.

Requirements

Experience

  • 2+ years recent ER experience – REQUIRED
  • Level I Trauma experience – REQUIRED
  • Travel experience preferred, but first-time travelers accepted with strong background
  • Must acknowledge variable, higher ratios (1:5–6, occasionally up to 1:8 during peak volume)

Certifications

  • ACLS – REQUIRED
  • BLS (AHA) – REQUIRED
  • PALS – REQUIRED
  • TNCC – REQUIRED
  • NIHSS – REQUIRED
  • ENPC – Preferred
  • CPI/MAB – Preferred

Skills

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation & management
  • Starting/maintaining IVs & blood products
  • Procedural & continuous sedation
  • Trauma care (neuro, ortho, multi-system)
  • CPAP/BiPAP & ABG interpretation
  • Experience in adult + peds combined ER settings
  • Ability to float to Peds ED if needed

Scheduling Info

  • Weekends: 3 weekends per 4-week schedule (Fri–Sun)
  • Floating: Yes (Peds ED if necessary)
  • Block scheduling: Not available
  • Holiday requirements: Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • Blocked RTO: 12/26–12/28

Patient Population

  • Adults, Geriatrics, Adolescents, Pediatrics, Infants
  • High-volume ED with ~100 beds
  • Daily census ~250
  • Trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatrics, ortho trauma, neuro trauma & more
