Unit Description: Pediatric CVICU:

Dell Children's Medical Center features a highly specialized unit dedicated to cardiac care.

Capacity: 24-bed Pediatric Cardiac ICU plus a 12-bed overflow/stepdown unit.
Patient Population: Neonatal through young adult, with occasional adult patients with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
Common Conditions: Congenital heart defects, post-surgical repair of complex cardiac lesions, heart failure, arrhythmias, pre/post-transplant care, and patients requiring Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs).

Job Description & Responsibilities:

The Pediatric CVICU RN will deliver specialized, critical nursing care to a complex cardiac population. This role demands exceptional clinical expertise in managing patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular issues.

Key Responsibilities::

Manage patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced life support interventions related to congenital heart disease.
Care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients, including those with intricate repair procedures.
Monitor and manage patients on mechanical circulatory support, including Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs).
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for ICU status patients, and 1:3 for step-down/non-ICU status patients in the overflow unit.

Minimum Requirements & Certifications:

Experience Required: 18 months (minimum) of dedicated, recent Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU experience is strictly required.
Certifications Required (Mandatory):
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
Experience Requirement (Exp. Req.): 2 years (minimum).
