Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN)

The PCU RN provides intermediate level care to adult patients who are more acutely ill than typical Med Surg but do not require full ICU, often including cardiac, respiratory, and post operative stepdown patients.

Responsibilities
• Perform focused assessments, monitor vital signs and telemetry, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and selected drips within PCU scope while coordinating labs, imaging, and the plan of care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions and document all care in the EMR

Requirements
• Active RN license in the state of practice or compact
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU, Stepdown, Progressive Care, or similar acute care experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
