Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients, including diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, management, and control of cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities under physician orders. This role serves as a resource to CRT staff and may be assigned special clinical projects or departmental initiatives by leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures according to protocol.
• Obtain arterial gases and oversee equipment operation for optimal patient care.
• Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on assessments.
• Administer medications safely and evaluate patient response.
• Maintain awareness of patient condition and communicate updates to physicians and nurses.
• Educate patients and families on self-care techniques and health promotion.
• Complete documentation accurately and monitor supplies/equipment.
• Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, identifying areas for improvement.
• Act as a resource, consultant, and mentor to staff, promoting the profession of Respiratory Care.
• Float to other departments as needed and participate in on-call coverage.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
