Position Overview

The Histotechnologist will be responsible for grossing, dissection, and processing of biopsies and tissue specimens under the supervision of a Pathologist or Pathology Supervisor. This role requires full technical expertise in histology and cytology preparation, including embedding, cutting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and related laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate gross description, dissection, and processing of biopsies and tissue specimens.
• Assist with embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, and cytology specimen preparation.
• Operate and perform IHC procedures, including use of the Leica BOND MAX system.
• Participate in limited technical activities such as accessioning, routine maintenance, and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with established protocols and maintain accurate documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1+ years grossing experience (required).
• Full technical experience in all areas of histology and cytology preparation.
• Current NYS license as one of the following:
  • Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT)
  • Medical Technologist (MT)
  • Histotechnologist (HTL)
• Experience grossing biopsies and performing IHC (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Science (preferred, not required).

Additional Information

• Radius Rule: Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility. Locals accepted at a reduced rate.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks.
