Description
Shift: Days | 5x8-hour shifts
Schedule: 40 hours/week | Includes weekends, holidays, and on-call/callback per unit needs
Facility: Sterile and Materials Processing Department — state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilization facility supporting 35 OR suites, AFC units, and clinics.
Description:
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, trays, and equipment. Duties include:
- Decontaminating and preparing surgical instruments per established protocols
- Operating and maintaining sterilizers, washers, and other processing equipment
- Performing quality assurance checks and maintaining sterilization documentation
- Managing supplies, equipment inventory, and stock levels
- Ensuring compliance with all safety and infection control standards
Equipment Used:
Steam sterilizers, ultrasonic washer, heat sealers, aerators, utensil washer, Steris units, cart washers, and hand/power tools.
Requirements:
- Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 3 years of sterile processing experience
- Experience in a large hospital (500+ beds)
- Minimum 6 months of travel SPT experience
Preferred:
- Level 1 trauma center experience
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
- Orthopedic tray experience
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks
