Radiation Oncology Therapist (Travel Assignment)

Location: Salem, OR 

Start Date: December 15, 2025 

Duration: 13 weeks 

Shift: Day, 4x10-hour (06:00 – 19:30) 

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week 

On-Call: Not required

 

About the Role

We are seeking a Radiation Oncology Therapist to join a fast-paced oncology department in Salem, Oregon. This position involves administering radiation treatments with precision and compassion, supporting continuity of care, and collaborating closely with oncologists, physicists, and dosimetrists.

 

Responsibilities

  • Simulate and administer radiation treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Interpret prescriptions and treatment plans accurately.
  • Complete patient identification processes per department procedures.
  • Maintain audio and visual surveillance during treatment.
  • Position patients consistently and accurately for treatment.
  • Perform imaging as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
  • Annotate portal images appropriately.
  • Monitor patients for side effects, behavioral changes, or unusual reactions and report observations.
  • Document treatment positions and tattoos/field borders using digital imaging.
  • Safely transfer patients using proper body mechanics.
  • Perform RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments.
  • Construct immobilization devices to ensure reproducible positioning.
  • Tattoo patients accurately and practice safe needle handling.
  • Participate in daily chart rounds to coordinate patient care.
  • Complete Aria chart checks per department policy.
  • Conduct weekly block room cleaning and HEPA filter checks.
  • Fabricate custom blocks accurately.
  • Coordinate simulation with clinic staff to support continuity of care.

Requirements

Credentials

  • ARRT National Radiology License.
  • Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) state licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

Experience

  • Minimum of one year of Radiation Therapy experience.
  • Experience with Varian TrueBeam or Edge, Aria systems.

Education

  • Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Linear Accelerators (Varian TrueBeam, Trilogy, Acuity, GE Lightspeed CT preferred).
  • Experience with SBRT, SRS, and Breathhold Visual Management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment treating 70–95 patients per day across three treatment machines.
