Registered Nurse – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Location: Denver, CO 

Schedule: Day shift, 4x10-hour shifts (40 hours per week) 

Hours per Day: 10.00

Job Summary

The PACU Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. This role involves independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with accepted practice standards as defined by the state Board of Nursing. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while promoting the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health.

Responsibilities

• Perform independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
• Collect and assess health data to evaluate patient status.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to patients and families.
• Deliver therapy and treatment supportive to life and well-being.
• Execute delegated medical functions and refer patients for further evaluation as needed.
• Review and monitor therapy and treatment plans.
• Document care in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications as needed.
• Participate in on-call coverage during scheduled shifts if required.
• Promote service behavior standards and uphold organizational mission and values.

Required Skills & Experience

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (ASN required).
• Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
• ACLS/NRP/PALS as appropriate for unit or service.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
• Certification appropriate for PACU or related specialty.
