UIH Outpatient Care Center – Radiation Oncology Unit
Position: Radiation Therapist
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:30
Hours: 40 hours/week
Contract: 13 weeks
Start Date: 12/22/25
Bill Rate: $102.50/hr
Weekends/Holidays: None
Mandatory Experience
ARIA record-and-verify system experience (MUST HAVE)
TrueBeam experience strongly preferred
Required Qualifications
Licensure in Radiation Therapy Technology as required by IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency)
ARRT-certified (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
Minimum 1 year (12 months) of full-time radiation therapy experience comparable to a Radiation Therapist I level
Demonstrated professional customer service skills when interacting with patients, families, staff, and vendors
Working knowledge of:
Safe operation of simulator, linear accelerator, and brachytherapy equipment
Patient immobilization devices (headrests, casts, sponges, straps)
Radiation coincidental light fields, source distance indicators, isocentric laser lights, and computerized treatment planning
Dosimetry calculations and isodose plan application
Job Responsibilities
Assist Radiation Oncologists, Physicists, and Chief Technologists with treatment simulations
Transmit simulation procedures to treatment machines to ensure accurate field reproduction
Position patients correctly using proper immobilization and treatment aids
Assist treatment planning staff by gathering measurements and information needed for dosimetry calculations
Explain treatment procedures and address patient questions
Maintain accurate daily treatment records and ensure charts are complete (set-up photos, field images, test results, etc.)
Perform daily documentation and weekly verification of treatment sites
Maintain treatment rooms, perform daily machine warm-ups, and ensure equipment is functioning properly
Restock supplies and maintain inventory
Complete billing procedures according to department policies
Assist with orienting and training Radiation Therapist I and II staff
Perform initial set-up checks on complex patients for junior team members
Participate in on-call rotation as scheduled
Cover lead therapist responsibilities as assigned
Perform other duties as needed
