PCU - Nights (D/N option available)

12 James Surg Onc is a mixed acuity unit that cares for both PCU and Med Surg patients. This is a very busy surgical floor. All perm staff is PCU trained.

Qualifications:

• 2 Years of Experience Required
• Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS and NIHSS
• Certifications Preferred: ONS Chemo

Description:

• Staffing Ratios - Goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5
• Weekends - variable based on unit needs
• Self-schedule requests - you will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule
• First week of orientation is Mon - Fri day shift. Second week is 36hrs of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Patient Age group: Adults and Geriatrics

• Patient Diagnoses:

  - Surgical Oncology: breast, thyroid, melanoma

  - Hepatobiliary: liver, pancreas, spleen, biliary tract cancers, neuroendocrine

  - Colorectal: colon, rectal cancer

  - Plastics: reconstructive breast cancer or sarcoma

• Special Procedures/Unit Details

  - Chemotherapy

  - Blood transfusions

  - IV Antibiotics

  - Oncologic emergencies 

  - Cytokine release syndrome

  - Insulin drips
  - Heparin drips

  - Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls

• Charting: EPIC
