Submission Requirements: Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years Individual unit requirements listed in pulse apply. Travel teams must be submitted together in 1 email We are only permitted to submit 2 candidates per opening, if the position is at max, we will hold on to the submission if a spot opens up *ALL SUBMITTALS MUST INCLUDE A UNEXPIRED COPY OF THE CANDIDATES DRIVES LICENSE* 8 North East (8NE) 8 Northeast has 24 spacious, private rooms with state of the art monitoring capabilities. The nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 with assistance from our clinical associates. The unit is geared towards the medical/surgical/trauma population. 8NE serves an important role in the Jon Michael Moore level 1Trauma Center which is the level 1 in the state of West Virginia. The unit specializes in patients who are diagnosed with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic fractures and complex trauma patients. The unit also focusses on respiratory comprised patients (bipap management, blood gas interpretation, tracheostomies and chronic vent dependent patients), reconstructive plastic surgery with microvascular free flaps, advanced diabetic management for type 1 and type 2 patients, while also providing quality care to patients experiencing general surgical interventions and complex wound management. The unit provides a higher level of care for patients requiring 24 hour hemodynamic monitoring. Our unit also has 11 rooms equipped with in-ceiling lifts to help promote early patient mobilization. There are exceptional learning opportunities available for seasoned nursing staff as well as new graduate nurses to enhance their skill set at the hands on level. Unit Med/Surg Miscellaneous Info & Examples if Needed # of beds 24 beds all step-down Ratios 3:1 Required certifications BLS is required Common diagnoses/Types of patients Trauma and general med/surg Level 1 trauma center Experience or 'Must have' skills Ability to have strong assessment skills and be adaptable to a fast pace work environment. Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes Common titratable &/or set rate drips Drips such as cardizem, labetalol, amiodarone and others. There are no sedative drips in our step-down unit Charge Nurse/House Supervisor We have our own unit charge nurse and house supervisors are present within the hospital 24/7 along with night shift supervisors at unit levels Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Yes typically we run with 3 aides for 24 patients as a 3:8 or at time 1:12 RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Bipap, Cpap and vents that are chronic or not being weaned Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Yes all 24 beds are monitored. Our unit does have teley techs in a central location. RN’s will need basic EKG interpretation, but techs read the strips Also have video monitoring for patient safety Shifts & Scheduling 7p to 7:30a week nights and weekends Weekend Requirement Yes depending on staffing could be every other weekend Holiday Requirement Yes on a rotational basis Is there a call or standby requirement? No call Floating Requirements Floating will be done on a rotational basis with other staff members on the unit. Travels will be placed into the rotation. Scrub Color/Dress Code Royal blue Unit/Department specific orientation 8 Northeast orientation will be reviewed with clinical preceptor
