Description

Shift: 7p-7a

Unit Specifics: BLS, NRP and Fetal Heart Monitoring is Required for L&D and OB units. Facility can cancel 1 shift every other week. Need Specifics:OB nurse needed, 15-17 births per month. Nurse will do L&D as well as Mother Baby, Newborn Nursery and Couplet Care. They will have Gynecology surgery patients. They may float to Med/Surg if no patients, if they are not comfortable taking patients on the med/Surg floor, they will need to assist with vitals, passing meds, etc. BLS, NRP and Fetal Monitoring required. **Facility can cancel 1 shift every other week.**RN will likely work with an LPN while on shift. The RN would do any and all responsibilities within their scope for laboring patients, triages, and mother-baby care. The LPN is not able to "labor" or triage patients, and cannot to initial assessments. However, they can help with aspects of supporting the RN with EFM evaluations, turning patients, baby nurse, ask questions and assist with documentation, etc. As the baby nurse, the initial assessment needs validated by the RN. In the instance that additional help is needed staff are able to request our Transfer Coordinator (house supervisor) to come to the unit for assistance. In an emergency, the LPN typically goes to the OR with the patient to recieve baby, allowing the RN to remain on the unit in case a triage were to arrive. Being a small unit, we do have to be creative, but we have excellent support and resources when needed
