Job Opportunity: Intermediate Care Nurse

Location: Springfield, Massachusetts
Unit: Medical Intermediate Care Unit (Daly 6B)

Unit Details

42 beds total: 21 medical-telemetry beds and 21 intermediate care beds
Patient Ratios:
- Intermediate Care: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Medical: 1 nurse to 6 patients
Common Cases:
- Pneumonia (PNA)
- COPD exacerbation
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Hyperosmolar Hyperglycemic State (HHS)
- Alcohol withdrawal (ETOH withdrawal)
- Gastrointestinal Bleeding (GIB)
- Sepsis
- Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
- Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
- Respiratory failure

Requirements

Experience: 1-2 years preferred
Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
Skills:
- Experience with tracheostomies, ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula
- Familiarity with cardiac drips, BiPAP, and telemetry monitoring
Flexibility: Floating to other units may be required; nurses work on both medical-tele and intermediate care sides of the floor
