RN Infection Control | Acute Care | EPIC
Unit: Quality Management – Sepsis / Clinical Quality
Care Setting: Acute Care
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week | 8-hour shifts
Charting System: EPIC
Division: Nursing

Position Summary
The Sepsis / Clinical Quality Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for leading and coordinating the hospital’s sepsis program, ensuring compliance with evidence-based sepsis protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement initiatives. This role partners closely with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, safety, and performance metrics across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the hospital’s sepsis program, ensuring adherence to evidence-based guidelines
- Monitor, analyze, and trend sepsis-related performance data to identify improvement opportunities
- Educate and train clinical staff on early recognition, intervention, and management of sepsis
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize sepsis outcomes
- Conduct audits, case reviews, and performance improvement initiatives related to sepsis care
- Support broader clinical quality improvement projects across departments
- Ensure compliance with CMS core measures, Joint Commission standards, and regulatory requirements
- Serve as a subject matter expert for sepsis management and quality initiatives
- Participate in hospital committees focused on quality, infection prevention, and patient safety
- Prepare and distribute quality and sepsis metrics reports to leadership and clinical teams
Required Experience & Skills
✅ Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience
✅ At least 2 years in ICU, ED, or Quality Improvement roles
✅ Strong knowledge of sepsis recognition, management, and treatment protocols
✅ Experience with data analysis, audits, and clinical performance improvement
✅ Excellent communication, education, and leadership skills
✅ Proficiency with EPIC EMR and quality data tools
Education
- BSN required
- Master’s degree (Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field) preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice
- BLS (AHA) required
- Sepsis certification (Sepsis Alliance) or CPHQ preferred.
