Internal Job Description – Float Pool RN (Region I) Important Note: Medical Solutions auto-deducts the 1.75% WA state tax — you may re-add this back into the pay package. Interview Process: Clinical Profile Review → Manager will call for interview. Region I Details Primary Facility: Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) – Seattle, WA Region I Float Requirements: Travelers must float throughout the following facilities if needed: St. Anne Hospital – Burien, WA St. Francis Hospital – Federal Way, WA Virginia Mason Medical Center – Seattle, WA Additional Pay: +$20/hr when floated within Region I to a facility that is not the traveler’s primary location. Orientation Requirements Must start on a Biweekly General Hospital Orientation (GHO) date. If orientation week at VMMC is not available, traveler will begin at St. Anne Hospital, then transition to VMMC the following week for unit-based onboarding. Unit / Department – Float Pool Units included in the float pool: Observation Med-Surg General Surgery Ortho Surgery Short Stay Surgery Thoracic Surgery Neurosurgery Oncology Telemetry Progressive Care (PCU) Nurse:Patient Ratios: Med-Surg: 4–5:1 Progressive Care: 3:1 Clinical Requirements Certifications Required: BLS ACLS Common Patient Types / Diagnoses: Med-Surg & postop patients PCU: strokes, lines/drains, chest tubes, CHF Post-vascular procedures Arrhythmias DKA Must-Have Experience: Strong Med-Surg background PCU/Stepdown experience Drips: Titrated: Nicardipine, Nitroglycerin (NTG), Insulin, Cardizem Titrated/Protocol: Heparin Fixed-rate (Stepdown): Dopamine, Dobutamine Telemetry: Remote cardiac monitoring RNs must read strips Monitor techs available Respiratory Equipment: CPAP BiPAP (occasionally used) Staffing & Support Traveler will not act as Charge Nurse or House Supervisor Charge nurse may or may not take a patient assignment Nurse aides available at approx. 1:10 ratio Scheduling Self-scheduling: Yes Block scheduling: No Weekends: Every other weekend Holidays: As needed based on staffing Call/Standby: None Unit Assignments: Assigned daily via staffing sheets Dress Code Royal Blue Scrubs Orientation Provided General Hospital Orientation Myles Modules Cerner Validation class Unit-specific orientation
