L&D / Postpartum / Mother-Baby (L&D/PP/MB) Oregon License Required — OR 90-Day Emergency License Accepted Unit Details L&D Beds: 5 OR Suites: 1 (within unit; main OR staff circulates/scrubs) Triage Beds: 1 Postpartum Beds: 3 (in addition to 5 LDRPs) Annual Deliveries: ~340 per year (30–35/month) AWHONN Ratios: Yes, followed Required Certifications BLS NRP Patient Population / Diagnoses Not a high-risk department Typical cases: normal labor, postpartum patients, routine newborn care, intermediate nursery babies Experience / Must-Have Skills Strong, independent experience in: Labor & Delivery Postpartum Routine Nursery Intermediate Nursery Must be able to function independently in all areas Minimum of 2 nurses on shift at all times; strong teamwork expected Medications & Drips Titration Required: Yes Common Drips: Pitocin (induction/augmentation) Magnesium Sulfate Insulin drips Staffing & Support Charge Nurse: Yes, on unit House Supervisor: In house CNA II / Unit Secretary: Yes OB Physicians: On call 24/7; almost always in-house during labor Neonatologist: Not in-house; on call 24/7 Equipment Vents: Used only for stabilization/transfer Bubble CPAP: Yes Fetal Monitoring: Central monitoring (FE Centricity Perinatal) Telemetry: Available; maternal cardiac monitored by ICU staff Shifts & Scheduling 12-hour shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a Block Scheduling: Yes Trades: Allowed Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Holiday Requirement: 1 major + 1 minor (if applicable) Call Requirement: To be discussed Floating: Expected — primarily as "helping hands" to other units Dress Code Scrubs provided by facility Orientation 3-shift unit-specific orientation Additional Unit Notes Workload can shift quickly: A shift may start with 0 active labors and end with multiple active labors, intermediate nursery babies, and fresh postpartum pairs Strong adaptability and ability to transition between tasks is critical Nurses are equally relied on—each RN serves as backup for the other
