Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)

• Work Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On Call Requirement: No call
• Floating: No floating
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: 4:1
• Security: Onsite 24/7
• Temp-to-Perm: Possible

Unit & Patient Population

• Very high acuity unit
• Patient cases include:

  • Strokes
  • Cardiovascular conditions
  • Diabetes
  • Wounds
  • Behavioral health
  • Sepsis
  • Some trauma (not a trauma-designated unit)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• RN License in Louisiana or compact state
• BLS certification (AHA)
• ACLS certification (AHA)
• PALS certification (AHA)

Education & Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty (preferred)

Job Responsibilities

• Practice independently with awareness of clinical situations
• Provide routine and complex nursing care
• Use nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed

Orientation & Competency Requirements

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
• Precepted by trained staff with competency validations, including Emergency Department-specific validation
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
• Completion of annual competency verification required

This role is suited for experienced RNs comfortable working nights in a high-acuity environment with diverse patient needs.
