Travel RN Opportunity - Alexandria, Louisiana
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Employment Type: Travel, Full Time
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Work Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On Call Requirement: No call
- Floating: No floating
- Nurse/Patient Ratio: 4:1
- Security: Onsite 24/7
- Temp-to-Perm: Possible
Unit & Patient Population
- Very high acuity unit
- Patient cases include:
- Strokes
- Cardiovascular conditions
- Diabetes
- Wounds
- Behavioral health
- Sepsis
- Some trauma (not a trauma-designated unit)
Required Licenses & Certifications
- RN License in Louisiana or compact state
- BLS certification (AHA)
- ACLS certification (AHA)
- PALS certification (AHA)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in related nursing specialty (preferred)
Job Responsibilities
- Practice independently with awareness of clinical situations
- Provide routine and complex nursing care
- Use nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed
Orientation & Competency Requirements
- New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
- Precepted by trained staff with competency validations, including Emergency Department-specific validation
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
- Completion of annual competency verification required
This role is suited for experienced RNs comfortable working nights in a high-acuity environment with diverse patient needs.
