Submission Requirements Can submit to only one WVU position at a time across the system Candidate’s driver's license address must be 50+ miles from facility Former perm staff: must be gone 2 years Former travelers (1 full year): must be gone 2 years Unit-specific requirements listed in Pulse Travel teams: submit in one email Only 2 candidates per opening allowed If maxed out, submissions will be held until a spot opens All background hits must be disclosed at submission Unexpired driver's license copy required COVID Requirement COVID vaccine required (2-dose Moderna/Pfizer OR 1-dose J&J) Medical/Religious exemptions allowed with completed form (must be approved by council) No duo submittals Unit: Emergency Room (Cost Center 51) Unit Overview Fast Track / RME: 7 beds (11 AM–11 PM or 1 AM) Total Beds: 40 (includes 2 trauma bays, 7 RME, 2 psych/seclusion rooms) Psych Rooms: 2, externally locking Patient Volume: ~120/day (pre-COVID ~150/day) Certifications Required BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Preferred: CEN, TCRN, CPEN Experience Requirements Previous travel experience 2+ years ER experience in similar size/volume EPIC experience required Ratios RN: 1:4 ED Techs: 1:8–10 Support Staff Charge RN 24/7 (may take patients if needed) ED Techs: phlebotomy, EKG, splinting, wound care, transports, CPR, assist in trauma Security available hospital-wide but not 24/7 in ED RT 24/7 Pharmacy 24/7, Omnicell No IV team Equipment & Systems EMR: EPIC Philips monitors (hard-wired & in-room) Ventilators: Servo U, Hamilton G5 & T1, Phillips V60 BiPAP, AirVo/MaxTech High Flow Providers 2 ED physicians & 2 PA midlevels at peak times (no NPs) Scheduling Shift options: 7a, 11a, 3p, 7p Manager creates schedule; first schedule is based on need Block scheduling allowed if in contract Schedules completed ~2 weeks in advance (4 weeks at a time) Weeks run Sunday–Saturday Night shift often block-scheduled Floating No floating Float pool nurses may be brought in for ED boarders Orientation 1–2 shifts (12 hours each), based on experience Common Patient Types Trauma (MVCs, interstate accidents), STEMI, stroke (stabilize & transfer), overdoses, psych, behavioral health, general ED cases, COVID Additional Notes Helipad available for air transport (weather-dependent)
