Overview

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking an experienced PCU Registered Nurse for a 14-week travel assignment. This is a fast-paced step down/PCU unit caring for mixed Med-Surg, Telemetry, Intermediate Care, neuro, respiratory, and cardiac patients.
First-time traveller are welcome.

 

Schedule & Requirements

  • Shift: Day shift, 3×12-hour
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Block Scheduling: Not available
  • Floating: Required within the facility
  • Call Requirements: None
  • RTO: Maximum 7 days

 

Unit Details

  • Unit Name/Number: 76200 – PCU
  • Beds: 36
  • Daily Census: ~30
  • Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
  • Acuity: High; may receive all PCU, all MS/Tele, or a mixture
  • Ratios: 1:4–5 (high ratio unit)
  • Interdisciplinary Support: IV teams, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, Transportation

Common Diagnoses / Patient Types:

  • Stroke, neuro, post-neurosurgery
  • Cardiac (drips, monitoring, dysrhythmias)
  • Respiratory (BiPAP, HFNC, trach care)
  • Mixed medical/surgical
  • Intermediate care level patients

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year
  • Travel Experience: Not required
  • Community Hospital Experience: Preferred


Certifications Required

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS


Required Skills

  • Starting & maintaining IVs
  • IV therapy / phlebotomy
  • Central & peripheral line care
  • Blood product administration
  • PICC line management
  • Titrating cardiac drips
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response / Code Teams
  • Insulin drip titration

 

Respiratory Skills

  • BiPAP/CPAP
  • HFNC
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Tracheostomy care
