Location: New Brunswick, NJ

Shift: Night, 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30)
Ratio: 1:1–2
Scheduling: No block scheduling; must be available to work 2 of 3 holidays

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced CVICU Registered Nurse to join our team for a travel assignment in New Brunswick, NJ. This role requires advanced critical care skills, strong experience with fresh open hearts, and the ability to float across multiple units including ICUs, PACU, ED (for ICU holding patients), and IMC units.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for CVICU patients including fresh open hearts (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR).
- Manage ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and patients with chronic and acute renal failure.
- Assist with BiPAP and CPAP, chest tube insertion/removal, and post-op open heart recovery.
- Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs.
- Utilize advanced monitoring and support devices including Swan, FloTrac, Temp Pacers, A-lines, Impella, IABP, and CRRT (Prismaflex).
- Float to ICUs, PACU, ED, and IMC units as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years acute care experience required; CVICU experience required. SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training.
- Travelers: First-time travelers accepted with positive references.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Stroke CEUs preferred.
- Licensure: Active NJ RN license required.
- Scheduling: Every other weekend and holiday coverage required.
