Job Description:
The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist performs high-quality general diagnostic imaging while following all departmental protocols and UNC Healthcare System policies. This role ensures accurate image acquisition, proper patient identification, and timely transmission of studies to PACS. The technologist is responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, supporting workflow efficiency, and providing excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality general diagnostic radiology exams in a timely and consistent manner
• Follow all departmental protocols, policies, and procedures
• Ensure accurate patient identification, exam verification, and documentation in RIS
• Critique, orient, save, and QC images before transmitting to PACS
• Verify all images successfully reach PACS and resolve issues as needed
• Assist with troubleshooting equipment and protocol-related concerns
• Maintain and report issues with image management equipment
• Use RIS, PACS, CIS, and HIS systems appropriately for documentation and study review
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and report incidents or improvement needs
• Verify pregnancy status when appropriate and assess patient condition before exams
• Provide assistance to patients requiring extra attention and respond to emergencies
• Share knowledge and support coworkers and students within the unit

• Temp-to-perm role
• Local candidates may be reviewed first

Requirements

• Accredited Associate’s Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program
• ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)) with active status
• Must meet annual continuing education requirements
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
