Description
Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
The OR RN provides perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in a fast paced acute care setting. This role supports safe patient care before, during, and immediately after surgery while working closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and the surgical team.
Responsibilities
• Perform pre operative assessments, verify consents, check allergies, and complete required safety checklists
• Circulate during surgical procedures, ensuring sterile technique, correct positioning, and patient safety throughout the case
• Prepare the operating room, instruments, equipment, and supplies according to procedure needs
• Assist the surgical team with intraoperative needs, manage specimens, and maintain accurate counts of instruments and sharps
• Provide handoff and report to PACU or next level of care and complete timely, accurate documentation in the EMR
Requirements
• Active RN license in the state of practice or compact
• Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS preferred per facility requirements
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, perioperative safety standards, and OR workflows
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical team
