Description
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PICU RN)
The PICU RN provides complex, continuous nursing care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in a high acuity pediatric intensive care setting. This role supports advanced monitoring, life sustaining therapies, and close collaboration with pediatric intensivists and the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive pediatric assessments, monitor hemodynamics, ventilators, and invasive lines, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Titrate vasoactive and sedation infusions per protocol, administer medications and blood products safely, and coordinate labs, imaging, and procedures
• Participate in pediatric codes and rapid responses, support families with clear communication and education, and document all care accurately in the EMR
Requirements
• Active RN license in the state of practice or compact
• Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or high acuity pediatric critical care experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Strong pediatric critical care assessment skills, advanced cardiac monitoring knowledge, and comfort caring for ventilated and high acuity pediatric patients
