POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Registered Nurse in Tuberculosis (TB) Services, you will play a vital role in diagnosis, treatment, and case management for residents and visitors diagnosed with latent tuberculosis infection and active tuberculosis disease.

Education
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Other Requirements
- A valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or compact state
- Must possess CPR certification
- Case management experience
- Required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses. Required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), annual Influenza, Hepatitis B vaccine and a Tuberculosis test.
Our Preferred Candidate has
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing or a related field
- Three (3) or more years of experience working as a case manager or as a Registered Nurse in an outpatient, home care, or public health department
- Experience working with patients from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds, with communicable diseases or substance abuse relating to their medical care and treatment for tuberculosis
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

- Provides direct patient care to TB patients, including patient data collection and documentation, specimen collection, TB screening and documentation, and medication administration and documentation
- Provides patient care in the TB Clinic
- Provides direction for LPNs, Social Workers, and Medical Assistants related to the provision of medical care
- Documents and ensures accuracy and completeness of documentation by LPNs, Social Workers, and Medical Assistants
- Ensures co-signing of medical records and patient encounter forms in the medical records, statistical reporting forms, grantor/contractor required forms
- Processes patient charts for review/orders by the TB medical providers
- Maintains patient data in an electronic medical records system
- Maintains correspondence with patients and health care providers to ensure continuity of care
- Assists the medical providers with the provision of care in the TB Clinic as necessary, which may include, but not limited to, chart preparation, rooming-in patients, and completing provider orders
- Participates in quality control and quality assurance activities, record reviews and audits, committee meetings, and training in TB-related or emergency/disaster preparedness or events
Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency.
REPORTS TO: Nursing Supervisor
Shift: Full Time – Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with an hour lunch.
