Travel Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during surgical procedures.
• Prepare the operating/procedure room and surgical equipment.
• Maintain sterile technique, pass instruments, and control OR equipment (lights, bovie, suction).
• Assist with safe patient transfer and positioning to prevent injury.
• Participate in physician-led time-outs and initiate emergency procedures, including BLS.
• Ensure patient rights, privacy, and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with OR team members and participate in pre- and post-operative planning.
• Attend unit/division/committee meetings as assigned.
• Maintain cleanliness, equipment readiness, and report malfunctions.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives (e.g., Six Sigma methodology).
• Complete yearly competencies and self-development goals.

Requirements:

Experience:

• Must have Open Heart / cardiac surgery experience.
• Previous OR experience preferred.

Certifications:

• Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) – Required
• CPR / BLS certification – Required

Education:

• High school diploma or GED
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program

Skills / Abilities:

• Strong clinical skills in ambulatory and inpatient care
• Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and work independently
