Description

Job Description – Surgical Technologist (Contract)

Key Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room before procedures, ensuring all instruments and equipment are available, sterile, and in proper working condition.
Assist in positioning, prepping, and draping surgical patients.
Maintain sterile fields and provide intraoperative technical support to surgeons and nurses.
Support a wide range of specialties, including:
- General Surgery
- Orthopedics
- Otolaryngology
- Ophthalmology
- OB/GYN
- Podiatry
- Urology
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and surgical best practices.
Participate in call rotations as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education/Training (must meet one):

Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program accredited by AST, OR
Documented on-the-job training in a clinical healthcare setting or military equivalent.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of recent Surgical Technologist experience.

Certifications

Must obtain certification within 6 months if qualifying under a 3-year pathway:
- NBSTSA Certification (CST), or
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT – TS-C; 6240 hours/3-year requirement)
Required: Active BLS (AHA)
State license must be active.

Schedule & Coverage

Shift: 10-hour days (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM), Monday–Friday
