Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry

Location: Quincy, IL 62301

Duration: 13 Weeks 

Schedule: Night Shift | 12-hour shifts | 36 guaranteed hours per week | Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

Job Description:

Seeking an experienced Med Surg/Telemetry RN for a 13-week contract. The unit is a fast-paced, high-volume surgical/telemetry floor with a wide variety of post-op and neuro patients. Ideal candidates will have strong surgical experience including joint replacements, neuro procedures, and TPN/lipid management.

This unit frequently uses a primary care nursing model, and nurses must be comfortable managing a full patient load while collaborating with LPNs, CNAs, and virtual admission/discharge nurses.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care to post-surgical and telemetry patients
• Interpret cardiac telemetry strips (Draeger monitors; monitor tech support available)
• Manage and titrate Heparin drips per protocol
• Administer medications including narcotics, TPN, and IV antibiotics
• Monitor and manage patients with chronic pain, sepsis, and complex medical/surgical conditions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality care
• Document care using Allscripts – Sunrise EMR
• Participate in the unit’s weekend and holiday rotation

Certifications Required:

• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS

Education:

• Active RN License (IL)
• BSN not required
• Minimum 2 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience
• Must have total joint surgical experience
