Registered Nurse – Med Surg/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
Location: Wilmington, NC 28401
Start Date: 01/12/2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks (13–26 weeks accepted)
Shift: Nights – 4x12
Hours: 36 or 48 hrs/week accepted
Block Scheduling: No
Orientation: 24 hours
Scrub Color: Navy
Job Summary
The MS/Tele RN will care for a broad range of surgical and trauma-related adult patients on a high-volume inpatient unit. This includes post-op care, trauma cases, oncology, vascular, and general medicine patients. RN must be confident working with ratios of 1:6, demonstrate strong clinical skills, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

- Total Patients: 43
- Step-Down: 9
- Floor: 34
- Beds: 43
- Patient Age Group: Adults
- Scheduling: As needed (EOW required)
- Float: Yes (PRN to like units)
- Call Requirement: None
- Pre-Approved PTO: 2 requests
- RTO After Booking: Not allowed (strict)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent surgical unit experience – REQUIRED
- Must be comfortable with 1:6 ratios
- Travel experience: Preferred, not required
- Previous charge nurse experience: Preferred
Required Certifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Required Clinical Skills
- Interpretation & management of dysrhythmias
- Rapid Response / Code Team participation
- Blood product administration
- Central line care/management
- Peripheral line care/management
- PICC line management
- Starting/maintaining IVs
- Nasal cannula & non-invasive airway management (CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC)
- Chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care & wound vacs
- Surgical drains: JP, Hemovac, Penrose
- Feeding tube care & management
- Heparin protocols, PCA pumps
Preferred Skills
- Trauma Level II experience
- Titrating cardiac drips
- Titrating vasoactive drips
- Chest tube management (advanced)
- Charge experience
