Description

Unit Med Surg/ TELE - Inpatient Surgical - 3rd floor.

# Beds 48 (two buildings).

Nurse:Patient Ratios 1:4-6 Nights 1:5-6 LPNs available, virtual admission and discharge nurses to assist as well.

Primary care nursing model is frequently used.

Must be okay with this.

Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS.

Common diagnosis / Types of patients Neuro- laminectomy, cervical fusion, LESI, belly surgery-ostomies, hernia repair, joint replacement-total hips/knees.

PICC, TPN, Lipids.

Fem pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertions, BKA, AKA.

DM (dialysis is also located on the 3rd floor) PCA, some epidurals, iv abx, chronic pain (narcotics), sepsis, urgent OR cases.

Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have total joint experience.

Understanding of PCA pumps, reversal drugs (narcan), sepsis management.

Experience with TPN/ Lipids.

Narcotic usage.

1 year of experience- surgical experience required.

Are RN's required to titrate drips : Heparin.
