Unit: Acute Hemodialysis – 106-1600-14805
Start Date: 01/12/2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3×12 hr (17:45–06:15)
Weekends: Every other weekend
Call: Required (rotating weekly + rotating Sat/Sun; mostly day shift – see details below)

 

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients requiring acute hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis in a busy hospital-based dialysis unit. The RN will perform bedside treatments in ICU/PCU settings as needed and must be skilled in managing patients with complex conditions, including ventilated patients and those requiring titratable drips.

This is a high-acuity role requiring recent experience with Fresenius hemodialysis equipment and Baxter peritoneal dialysis systems.

 

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of acute dialysis RN experience (HARD STOP).
  • Must have experience within the last 1 year:
    • Acute hemodialysis using Fresenius equipment
    • Peritoneal dialysis using Baxter equipment
  • If experience is greater than 1 year old → Screening required
  • Night shift RN must be competent with:
    • Cycler
    • CAPD
    • PD fluid sampling
    • Hemodialysis

Certifications

  • BLS – required
  • Preferred: ACLS, CDN or CNN

Preferred Experience

  • CAPD experience
  • Acute inpatient dialysis
  • ICU/PCU bedside dialysis

  • Peritoneal Dialysis (CCPD using Baxter cycler; CAPD)
  • Airway management
  • Post-dialysis treatment and post-access care
  • Equipment:
    • Fresenius T hemodialysis machines with CliC and Bibag
    • Marcor Millennium HX portable RO machines
    • Baxter PD cycler
    • Sigma Spectrum IV pump

Systems

  • Charting: Epic (primary)
  • Medication System: Pyxis
  • Communication: Voalte
