Position Overview

The McGee Unit at Berkshire Medical Center provides specialized inpatient detoxification and behavioral health services. RNs support patients experiencing acute substance withdrawal and co-occurring mental health conditions while working within a large, multidisciplinary behavioral health system that includes psychiatrists, nurse specialists, social workers, psychologists, and crisis teams.

This assignment requires strong behavioral health experience, confidence in crisis care, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced detox environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, therapeutic nursing care for detox and behavioral health patients
• Assess, monitor, and manage withdrawal symptoms and psychiatric behaviors
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, therapists, and unit leadership
• Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech Expanse
• Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed
• Coordinate patient care plans and discharge goals
• Support a multidisciplinary, recovery-focused environment

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent Behavioral Health RN experience
• Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred
• Previous travel experience (≥ 6 months) required
• Must have reliable personal vehicle (public transit not dependable)
• Must include permanent address (for 50-mile rule)

Certifications

• BLS (AHA) required

Schedule & Expectations

• 8-hour shifts: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• On-call possible (unit dependent)
• Dress Code: Personal scrubs in any color

Submission Requirements

• Updated work history with Behavioral Health focus
• Skills checklist (Behavioral Health), current within 1 year
• 1 signed supervisory reference from past 2 years
• Active MA RN License
• ALL RTO must be included at submission (max 5 days)
• No additional scheduling requests after submission
