MS/Tele Float Travel Nurse – Watertown, NY

 

About the Role

 

A leading hospital in Watertown, New York (ZIP 13601) is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Float Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across multiple units, including Med/Surg, PCU, and acute inpatient rehab, while expanding your professional expertise.

 

Assignment Details

  • Specialty: MS/Tele Float RN
  • Location: Watertown, NY 13601
  • Start Date: January 12, 2026 – April 12, 2026
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 19:00 – 07:00 (12-hour night shifts)
  • Hours: 36 hours per week (standard contract)
  • Radius Rule: 100 miles enforced
  • Weekend/Holiday/Call: Required
  • Floating: Required to MS 4 Pav, MS 5 Pratt, PCU, and acute inpatient rehab (ortho/neuro)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5–6
  • EMR: Meditech

Unit Specifics

  • Common Diagnoses: Sepsis, COPD, CHF, post-op recovery, general med/surg, plastics post-op, ALC (awaiting nursing home placement)
  • Required Drips/Medications: Heparin drips, magnesium and potassium riders
  • Patient Population: Adults with diverse medical and surgical needs

Submission Requirements

  • Resume: Must show 2+ years of MS/Tele/PCU experience and at least 1 successful travel assignment
  • References: 2 recent Charge/Manager RN references preferred
  • Certifications (current AHA):
    • BLS
    • ACLS
  • Licenses: Active NY RN license required (NURSYS verification)
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • RTO: Must be included at time of submission (no exceptions)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (NY required).
  • PCU experience highly preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to respond quickly in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Charge nurse capability may be required.
  • Advanced certifications beyond required list.
  • Adaptability to diverse patient populations and clinical environments.

Skills & Competencies

  • Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and patient care standards
  • Ability to assess patient needs (clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual)
  • Recognition of safety issues and ability to implement safe patient handling (use of lifts)
  • Strong leadership skills with prioritization and delegation abilities
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to function well in stressful situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
