Cytotechnologist (Cyto Tech) – San Francisco, CA
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Cytotechnologist to join our laboratory team. This role integrates knowledge, theory, and practice to execute procedures in assigned areas of the laboratory and deliver accurate results in a timely manner. With advanced training, you will maintain competence in all cytology practices, performing pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and prevention of disease.
You may be responsible for specimen receipt, preparation, interpretation, archival, and retrieval in accordance with department policies and procedures. Collaboration with physicians, clients, and staff is essential to ensure superior patient care and to represent the laboratory with professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Additional responsibilities may include performing specialized procedures and orienting new staff to the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform cytology procedures across pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of laboratory results.
- Handle specimen receipt, preparation, interpretation, and archival/retrieval.
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to support patient care.
- Uphold laboratory standards of professionalism and quality.
- Assist with training and orientation of new team members.
Requirements
- ASCP-CT certification.
- Current California Cytotechnologist License.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cytology.
Position Details
- Shift: Day, 5x8-Hour (08:00 – 16:30).
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, no on-call or weekend shifts.
- Location: San Francisco, CA.
- Start Date: January 12, 2026.
- Duration: 13 weeks.
