Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Flex Pool Day Shift assignment. This role supports multiple medical and surgical units, providing high-quality patient care across varying acuity levels. The Flex RN must be adaptable, clinically skilled, and comfortable floating between units as needed.

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
  • Scheduled 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
  • Hours are not guaranteed

Primary Responsibilities

  • Float between medical, surgical, step-down, and cardiovascular units as assigned
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver appropriate nursing care
  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and facility protocols
  • Utilize unit equipment including Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective patient care

Units & Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

  • Medical Unit: 1:6 (days/evenings), 1:8 (nights)
  • Surgical Acute (Laulima): 1:6
  • Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
  • Ratios may vary due to census or staffing needs

Orientation & Training

  • Unit-specific orientation provided for each department

Qualifications

  • Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience (2–10 years preferred)
  • Prior experience in Med-Surg and/or Step-Down settings preferred
  • Ability to float across multiple units with confidence

Certifications

  • Required: BLS, ACLS
  • Preferred: PALS, TNCC, ENPC, Procedural Sedation

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of required immunizations; medical or religious exemptions are not accepted
  • Must be able to arrive prior to start for employee health clearance
  • Professional nursing attire (clean scrubs) required
  • Holiday coverage required
