Unit Overview

Patient Ratios: 1:1, 1:2 (occasionally 1:3)
EMR: Meditech
Equipment: Medfusion & Baxter IV pumps, Hillrom beds, HARD cribs/cribettes, GE radiant warmers, Somanetics NIRS, Servo U ventilators

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 1 year Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff RN
2+ years PICU experience as a staff nurse
3–4 contracts in a dedicated Pediatric CICU
Experience caring for congenital heart disease (CHD) and post-operative cardiac patients
Proficiency with arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines

Typical Procedures

Central and arterial line placement
Conscious sedation
Intubation/extubation
Post-operative recovery (general & cardiac)
Sternal closures
Code response
ECMO cannulation/decannulation
CRRT and manual peritoneal dialysis
