Weekends: No guaranteed weekends off; may work based on unit needs
Float: Required within scope
Call: Required
Holidays: Scheduled based on department needs
EMR: Epic (must have within last 2 years)
Experience Level: Senior-level, high-acuity PACU
Position Overview
The PACU is seeking an experienced Post-Anesthesia Care Unit RN with strong critical care skills to care for high-acuity adult and pediatric post-operative patients. Nurses must be comfortable with complex, fast-paced recovery environments in a large teaching hospital setting.
Required Experience
- 3+ years of clinical nursing experience
- 2+ years PACU experience (required)
- Must have high-acuity critical care PACU experience
- Required competencies:
- Arterial lines
- Multiple titratable drips
- Cardiac monitoring
- Critical care-level airway and hemodynamic assessment
- Experience in a large teaching hospital (required)
- Epic experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
Certifications Required
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA)
Scheduling & Expectations
- Variable 8/10/12-hour day/evening shifts
- Float required within peri-op/surgical areas
- Call required
- Weekend and holiday shifts determined by staffing needs
- No block scheduling is permitted
- Orientation occurs biweekly on Mondays
Submission Requirements
- Resume must clearly show:
- High-acuity PACU experience
- Critical care competencies
- Large teaching hospital background
- Epic experience
- All work history must include facility type, bed count, EMR used
- Any employment gaps >90 days must be explained
